Polytech Network’s program

Claude Bernard University’s PeiP program (Parcours des Ecoles d'Ingénieurs Polytech) targets high school graduates having majored in science and wishing to take up engineering.
Candidates are admitted following the so-called competitive examination Concours Geipi Polytech (see Admission PEIP).
Since September 2010, Polytech Lyon has offered a two-year training program which allows for automatic admission to any of the 13 schools of the Polytech Network, on condition the two years are validated.
The assignment of students to any given school is based on their wishes depending on the specialties offered and subject to the availability of places.

The program is intended to give students a strong basic education, using specific teaching schemes such as:

  • individualized follow-up of students,
  • written tests (mock exams),
  • oral tests,
  • small class sizes (30 students maximum),...

The above schemes were set up in January 2012, when Polytech Lyon joined the Polytech Network, in order to comply with the requirements of its PeiP charter.
This curriculum is part of the Licence de Mathématiques ( diploma gained after 3 years of higher education in mathematics) providing a gateway to other «licence» degrees in computer science, physics, mechanics and civil engineering. The two-year program is divided into 4 semesters (S1,S2,S3 and S4), each of which includes 5 teaching units (UE): four of them are unidisciplinary( mathematics, computer science, physics, mechanics) while the last one one which is multidisciplinary includes English , French, business and industry awareness, science and society, sports,..)

Each teaching unit is allocated 6 ECTS credits (European credit transfer system). The table below summarizes the pedagogical organization of the PeiP program at Polytech Lyon:

  • SHS (Humanities and social science) include the development of awareness to communication and team work, an introduction to the business world and the management of a mini-project
  • Optional credits(Options) make it possible for students, depending on their professional project, to shift towards a (Mathematics/ Physics/Mechanics) or (Mathematics/Computer Science) path
