Une matinée d'excellence scientifique pour la Graduate School à Polytech Lyon
Le lundi 15 juin dernier, Polytech Lyon a eu le plaisir d'accueillir la Matinée de la Graduate School of Medical Device Engineering. Cet événement fort de la vie de notre établissement a rassemblé étudiants, doctorants et chercheurs autour des innovations de pointe dans le domaine des dispositifs médicaux.
Un immense merci à Caroline Jacquot pour son organisation sans faille, qui a fait de cette matinée une véritable réussite !

Après un accueil chaleureux autour d'un café, la matinée a débuté par une présentation de la Graduate School, suivie par la mise en lumière des travaux de thèse de deux doctorants soutenus par la structure. Les participants ont ainsi pu découvrir les projets de Hermine Quardon (laboratoire CREATIS) sur un outil d'aide à la biopsie en neurochirurgie mêlant spectrométrie et IA, et de Fahad Ali (laboratoire ISA) sur la fabrication éco-responsable de capteurs de sueur biodégradables.
La session académique s'est poursuivie avec l'intervention du Pr Norbert Noury (INL), venu partager son expertise sur les dispositifs médicaux pour le maintien à domicile (Medical devices for Homecare).

L'un des moments forts de l'événement a été la session de "flash présentations". Sept boursiers d'excellence de la Graduate School, accompagnés de leurs encadrants, ont relevé le défi de pitcher leur projet de recherche en à peine 3 minutes. De la détection non invasive du glucose à l'imagerie par ultrasons en passant par la capture de mouvement chez l'enfant, la diversité et la qualité des sujets ont captivé l'auditoire.

La fin de matinée a laissé place aux échanges directs lors de la session posters, où 26 stagiaires de Master et 2 doctorants ont exposé leurs travaux. Les membres du Conseil de la Graduate School ont eu la lourde tâche de départager les candidats pour le prix du meilleur poster.

La journée s'est clôturée de manière conviviale autour d'un buffet partagé, idéal pour prolonger les discussions et faire émerger les collaborations de demain.

A Morning of Scientific Excellence: Polytech Lyon Hosts the Graduate School Event
On Monday, June 15, Polytech Lyon was delighted to host the Graduate School of Medical Device Engineering Morning. This milestone event brought together students, PhD candidates, and researchers to explore cutting-edge innovations in medical technology.
A huge thank you to our colleague Caroline Jacquot for her flawless organization, which made this morning a tremendous success!
Hermine Quardon's Work presentation Spotlighting Innovation and Medical Research
Following a warm welcome over coffee, the morning kicked off with an overview of the Graduate School, followed by presentations from two PhD students supported by the program. Attendees discovered the work of Hermine Quardon (CREATIS laboratory) on a spectrometry and AI-driven tool to assist neurosurgical biopsies, as well as Fahad Ali (ISA laboratory) on using green technology to manufacture biodegradable wearable sweat sensors.
The academic session continued with an inspiring seminar by Prof. Norbert Noury (INL), who shared his expertise on "Medical devices for Homecare."
Fasika Getachew KEBEDE's Work Presentation Fast-Paced Pitches and Scientific Dynamism
One of the event's highlights was the flash presentation session. Seven Graduate School Excellence Scholars, alongside their supervisors, took on the challenge of pitching their research projects in just under three minutes. Covering topics ranging from non-invasive blood glucose monitoring and ultrasound imaging simulation to marker-less motion capture in children, the sheer diversity and caliber of the projects truly captivated the audience.

The latter part of the morning opened the floor to networking and direct discussion during the poster session, which showcased the work of 26 Master’s interns and 2 PhD students. Members of the Graduate School Council faced the difficult task of selecting the best presentation.
Congratulations to Yonas Yibkaw (CREATIS laboratory), the grand prize winner of this edition, who was recognized for his outstanding work on the design of sensors and acquisition protocols for Deuterium metabolic imaging at 11.7T!
The event drew to a convivial close with a buffet lunch, providing the perfect opportunity to keep conversations going and perhaps spark tomorrow's scientific collaborations.
